Te Kura Takawaenga o Rutherford
‘E ako ki te ora | Learn to live’
Principal's Message
At Rutherford, we aim to create a positive, inclusive, and safe environment. Our staff are dedicated to fostering excellence in academics, sports, and the arts. Our campus features large grounds, a gymnasium, artificial turf, specialised rooms for different subjects, a library, and spaces for music, food, and art.
Our school motto, 'E Ako ki te Ora' ('Learn to Live'), reflects our vision of fostering a culture of belonging that promotes success and well-being for everyone. Learning to live means gaining academic skills as well as practical life skills, emotional balance, resilience, and adaptability. It involves self-understanding, building meaningful relationships, contributing to society, and embracing continuous growth.
Our values: Kia Manaaki - Be Respectful, Kia Manawanui - Be Resilient, Kia Tūtika - Be Responsible highlight the outcomes we aim for each student. We prioritise building strong, respectful relationships with our students and their whānau. In this supportive environment, we can guide your child through a period of personal growth and change. We are committed to upholding high standards and fostering a culture of care, excellence and continuous self-improvement. If you would like to discuss opportunities for your child at Rutherford, please email me to arrange a meeting at hhepburn@rutherford.ac.nz.
